River through the Valley

From a series of ink drawings depicting the scenery in the Peak District National Park. Each piece was created from memories of walking and climbing in various locations.

The Peak District National Park has, in some areas, to me, a certain atmosphere that can not be found anywhere else. The gritstone formations, wildness and bleakness gives the place a dark and almost unnerving feeling, especially in the winter months.

I wanted to give a feeling of how the Peak District National Park felt to me from all my senses but show this in a two-dimensional way. The way the place sounds, feels to the touch; the cold wind pressing down on you as you amble through, the way it smells; peat and heather. The landscape never fails to impress me and leaves me inspired and in awe.
