Manchester is a city of layers. Old and new, concrete and glass, history and change.
Through photography, collage and printmaking, I explore the overlooked details of familiar places, creating my own interpretations of the urban landscape.

ABOUT Me
I'm Paul Bell, an independent artist exploring Manchester's urban landscape through photography, collage and mixed-media processes.
I love the buzz of Manchester, the way its always on the move and changing. I enjoy the layering of different architectural styles but also the way the art, the posters, advertisements, graffitti and tags are layered over themselves and the way they are scattered throughout the city. They are ever moving; I can return to a spot several months later and the area has morphed into something different. Theres an endless landscape for me to work from.
I enjoy taking fragments from different areas and creating my own landscape. Sometimes I will work into photographs or create a cyanotype, maybe a pencil sketch or a digital collage using photographs I have taken in and around the city.

Every piece begins with something familiar — a building, a street, a fragment of the city.
Through photography, collage and experimental printmaking, I explore the layers of Manchester's urban landscape. Architectural details, changing spaces and traces of the past become the starting point for something new.
It's a process of collecting, rearranging and reimagining — creating work that feels rooted in a place, without simply reproducing it.
